about

ABOUT

I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ.

I have been writing since I was thirteen years old. After my wife of thirty years, writing is my first love. I have done creative writing, instructional writing, procedural writing, intellectual property writing, web page writing, academic writing, and script writing. The truth is that I love doing all of it.

I have published three books. The first is an instructional book on public speaking entitled Public Speaking: From Fearful to Formidable. The second book is a practical guide on how to attend college. It is entitled College: A Practical Guide. I co-authored this book with my nephew and fellow writer Lawrence Teague Jr. I have written award-winning short stories, My newest book has been published, it is entitled Christian Outlaws. This book is published via Christian Faith Publishing.

You want to know something about me? I Know that no matter what kind of writing I am doing, it is work that I enjoy doing. As one of my favorite authors, Mark Twain once said, Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

A History of Writing and Teaching

My latest book is Christian Outlaws. It is in publication now and can be purchased via Amazon, Apple BooksBarnes Noble, Reader House, and Google Play. Below is a synopsis of the book.

The governments of the world have outlawed Christianity and all known Christian leaders. All followers of Christ have a bounty on their heads. Anyone who worships Christ is put in rehabilitation centers until they conform to the laws of the land. If they do not renounce their faith, they are put to death. Anyone with information about these Christians is rewarded for their service to society and the greater good.

Uncle Gene is one such leader of a cell of Christians that is in hiding. They hide in the caves near a once-flourishing metropolitan area. Uncle Gene and Jonathan go into the city for supplies. While in the market, Uncle Gene is abducted. His captors are bounty hunters who want the location of the rest of Uncle Gene’s flock. He is tortured for the information, but God uses this abuse to allow Gene to witness to his captors.

Uncle Gene is an older gentleman and remembers when society looked upon Christians with more favor. Gene’s struggle is not only with his captors and their abuse, but also with the outright persecution of Christians everywhere. He is confronted with the evil of this world, and only through his faith in Jesus Christ is he able to forgive and witness about our Lord.

Aaron is the leader of the gang that has kidnapped Uncle Gene. His goal is to break Gene with physical and mental torture to discover the location of the rest of the Christians in this area. Gaining such information would make him a rich man and set him up in business with the corrupt local government.

This is a story of human society that has turned its back on God completely, the greed of one man willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his riches, and one servant of God reaching out and bringing the message of salvation to those who seek to destroy all he holds dear.

I have also written two books and have co-authored and edited two other books. I have written a chapter in the book Action Explorations, the chapter is entitled, Simulation: Gateway from Information to Knowledge.

I have fourteen years’ experience as a technical writer. I have written, edited, and produced content on webpages, videos, brochures, social media, patents, instruction manuals, and procedures.

I have experience with web pages, writing instructions for labs, writing curriculum, video shooting and editing, social media site management, and project management. I also have experience with Microsoft Office, Oracle Agile, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, as well as other image and documentation manipulation software.

I have taught technical writing to graduate students, edited their theses, and critiqued and edited their thesis presentations. For the past ten years, I have taught speech communication to students as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Communication. I have written a book for the speech classes entitled Public Speaking: From Fear to Formidable.

For all the courses I have taught, I have designed and implemented the curriculum.

When I worked at Boeing Aerospace and Alcatel Network Systems, I would daily interpret software, technical schematics, drawings, and documentation for others in written and verbal formats.

I graduated with a Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University in December of 2014. My thesis covers social media and how it influences the current student population in their face-to-face communication skills, and how this, in turn, influences their academic careers.
